As a leading authority in male infertility and reproductive medicine, our Medical Director, Dr. Jeffrey Buch, truly lives up to the brand “Low T Guru.” Dr. Buch lends his considerable specialized expertise and experience to empathetically consult with you and others in and around Frisco, Texas, and the DFT metroplex. He accurately detects the true nature of distressing concerns, such as premature ejaculation (PE). Due to his extensive experience and training in the field, Dr. Buch is knowledgeable about the latest medications and therapies to treat PE, as well as time-tested methods to regain your confidence and restore a healthy, happy relationship with your partner.

The low T, PE connection

Premature ejaculation largely occurs when a man ejaculates and loses his erection within two minutes of penetration. A common condition, it’s estimated that one in every three men will experience PE at least once in their lifetime. While it is not typically a cause for considerable concern, frequent PE occurrences can interfere with a healthy sex life and place considerable strain on relationships. Both the individual affected by PE and their partner may suffer from feelings of inadequacy.

To effectively treat PE and restore a fulfilling sex life and maintain healthy relationships, we at Low T Guru must determine the cause of your upsetting and disruptive symptoms. Low testosterone levels may be to blame for more frequent episodes of PE. Levels of this hormone peak during one’s adolescence and early adulthood; however, testosterone is lost at a rate of approximately 1% annually after the age of 30 or middle-age.

Testosterone is vital to so many different functions, including muscle strength, fat distribution, bone density, red blood cell production, and the areas that we know best: sex drive and sperm production. So, men with low T may notice changes such as reduced body hair and muscle tissue, in addition to a lack of sexual desire and fewer erections that are “spontaneous.” If we determine that hormonal changes contribute to your PE, testosterone replacement therapy may restore you and your patient’s sexual satisfaction. Testosterone therapy can also help decrease the recovery time needed after ejaculation and before the next usable erection presents itself.

Other causes

A myriad of factors may be to blame for PE, not limited to biological causes such as low T. Anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, and other psychological conditions can contribute to frequent PE. Erectile dysfunction, interpersonal issues with partners, and stress are also factors. Of course, many of these factors also represent complications, as premature ejaculation only adds to the stress and further strains relationships.

Treatment depends on what we find in consultation with you and following a thorough evaluation at Low T Guru’s office in Frisco. We may recommend one of the following treatments or a combination of therapies:

  • Behavioral methods – Perhaps the “low-hanging fruit” of the PE therapy world, tactics generally involve avoiding the “point of no return” following penetration. You may find that mentally distancing yourself with non-sexual or unpleasant thoughts works well to prevent PE. Other effective methods might include halting motion immediately post-penetration to “back off” before the ejaculation is so close that it can’t be stopped.
  • Exercises – Men can also benefit from Kegel exercises. We provide insights into ways to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. In doing so, you may find far enhanced control over the timing of ejaculations.
  • Medications – Aside from a range of testosterone therapies, topical anesthetics may be suggested to ease sensation and delay the onset of ejaculation. Low-dose antidepressants, such as generic Zoloft and Prozac, may be appropriate and effective for individuals with anxiety or other psychological causes. You and your partner may also benefit from ED drugs such as Viagra or Cialis.

Of course, this is a partial list of the many ways we can help. Even if other methods on this list don’t get sustained results, we offer an “erection-assuring” injectable medication that is also painless and not cost-prohibitive. Before we get into that, call us with your concerns and questions. We welcome them! Low T Guru can be reached at (972) 430-4554.
