Treat for Peyronie's Disease in Frisco Area

“Guru” is defined as an intellectual guide and leading authority in a field. With “guru” in our practice’s name, you expect certain things. Dr. Jeffrey P. Buch applies his more than 40 years of clinical experience and his enthusiasm to employ the latest proven technologies to benefit patients and their partners.  These advanced technologies are by no means limited to the treatment of low testosterone. Low T Guru is also well-equipped to treat Peyronie’s disease from our Dallas suburb of Frisco, TX location, though, it should be said, that lower levels of testosterone have been implicated in several studies as a risk factor for both this condition and erectile dysfunction.

Peyronie’s disease, explained

PD’s namesake refers to the 18th century French surgeon, Francois Gigot de la Peyronie, who first described a curvature of the corpus cavernosa, or the body (cylinders) of the penis that contains most of the blood responsible for firm erections. The source of the condition are plaques that form from scar tissue, which usually develops following an injury to the penis, as well as conditions that contribute to poor wound healing and a buildup of scar tissue. For instance, patients with connective tissue disorders, hypertension, and autoimmune diseases are at increased risk of developing PD. As with other types of conditions that affect sexual health and satisfaction, there is a genetic component as well as an age-related component; men tend to develop PD in their 40’s 50’s and 60’s, whereas younger men with characteristics of PD tend to have a congenital curve to their penises from one penile cylinder being longer than the other.

Some curvature is normal and not necessarily a cause for concern. But many of the patients who visit Dr. Buch are concerned about symptoms such as pain, with or without an erection, which can interfere with relationships and the couple’s goals for starting a family.
